Serum understanding of the extent of pneumonia
According to a study by Sweden, the drop in serum calcium levels before the determination of pneumonia can help determine the extent and causes. In Stockholm this study, expert assessment of the drop in serum calcium before-and C-reactive protein (CRP) the diagnostic value. Case studies in 96 cases, the admission has increased the level of CRP, but only 60 people (54 percent) before descending calcium-rise. Moreover, the drop in admission serum calcium-ago levels and increased severity of the disease is closely related to, and the CRP level is not the case. In addition, the atypical pneumonia caused by pathogens in patients with nine in eight previous levels of calcium drop below the 0.5 mcg / L, from the classic bacterial infection in patients with pneumonia is 27, only six less than this value. CRP levels also do not see this related. Researchers believe need further analysis of the experiments. But they think that before the drop in the level of calcium can help doctors determine the severity of pneumonia and is from the classic bacterial infection, to determine treatment.
